sherrold outlined some of the conflicts between net fans and fans who had entered slash fandom primarily through conventions and print zines in Internet Fans Controversy Du Jour. In her commentary she describes the rapid shifts taking place in fannish perceptions of the Internet - and one another - between 1993 and 1997.
I mentally use her commentary as my template every time fandom starts muttering about how the new 'thang' is ruining ...ruining! I say! .... fandom. Mailing lists, blogs, twitter..... "We're gonna walk on the ground (ride on a train/fly on a plane) like the good Lord intended!"
