I too have not seen the types of posts that the OP is discussing but I am not deeply into MadMax or Pacific Rim I did some digging and went back to 2013 when the AO3 survey came out and there were mentions of how some fans would use "we're all straight over here" argument to explain why there was not more femmeslash. More links would have been helpful. We all tend to suffer from "my experiences are the same as your experiences why do you not get it" - forgetting that the fandom world is global and situational at the same time.
One of the reasons I made my "here are all the many threads" post was that it seemed as if topic drift (my perception of what I was seeing) could be perceived as not wanting to discuss = wanting to silence = which...well that was a Martian leap for me. I feel like I am missing a key part of the conversation linkages.
