Daily Acts of Kindness

The only way we may be able to get through the next 4 years is by trying to be as kind as we can.  I have seen the Monday Pride thread    and I think it is something people should start doing each week.

So here goes

1. In December, my mother's neighbor displayed her personal menorah in the senior apartment complex lobby and it was stolen. My mother tried to buy the neighbor a replacement online, but the company failed to mail it, She finally got the credit card to reverse the charge, went to a local synagogue gift shop this week, bought  a new one and gave it to her neighbor. They hugged and cried a little.

2. One of the neighbors in my new Indivisible group posted this "Welcome Neighbor" sign on her lawn. Another neighbor whom she had never met brought her pastries from an Arabic bakery and thanked her. She brought them to the weekly Indivisible meeting today. You can find an Indivisible Group in your area here: https://www.indivisibleguide.com/local-action-groups/   Consider joining  one - it may make a difference to your sanity.

3. Today on NextDoor (a nationwide local mailing list) a woman posted that she was injured, had lost her job and needed to get health insurance but she could not afford the $2000 a month they would charge for COBRA. She thought she could not qualify for the ACA because her employer insurance did not run out  until after tonight's deadline. I emailed her right away, got her to call the ACA hotline and she was able to sign up in time.
