I was contacted this morning by taverymate 's sister. Taverymate died in October of a heart attack. Her sister is reaching out to people on taverymate's email list now that she has returned home and has access to her computer.

I've asked if there is a place to send donations or leave comments for the family and will update this post as we get more information. I have set up her Fanlore memorial page here will also be setting up a memorial page on Fanlore and of course, you can leave comments here or send them to me via email. Feel free to link to this post here as well in your own communities.

TaVeryMate was an avid fannish historian and contributed extensively to the fandom communities (Due South, Pros and Vidding). We first met online in 2002 on the vidder yahoo mailing list and discussed songvids, fanzines and fandom over the years. She was always pushing for more fannish discussions - first on mailing lists and later on LJ. And more recently she was helping several groups with documenting fandom history.

Oh, this is such sad news! I will check back about what the family might want regarding donations.

Oh no. Oh no. I did wonder, you know - she asked me to get her a VVC 2012 DVD for her, which I did, and then I wrote back and asked her where to send it--and she never replied. I asked a bunch of times. It never occurred to me that she had died, though I did wonder why she wasn't replying to emails or comments. Oh I am so very sorry to hear this.

I'd mostly lost touch with her over the last few years between one thing and another, but had hoped to rectify that. That is such sad news.

On LJ alone she posted 2,000+ comments. She was very active and contributed a lot to her fandoms.

This is very sad.

I didn't know her very well. But we had a short mail contact in June, and she was very nice.
I was impressed by her knowledge of fandom, for example in her post about Mel Keegan this year(CI5HQ).

Oh, no! She donated a large number of DVDs with archived vids from ALL the fandoms she could find, a few years ago. So sad. :(

Thank you! They should be available in the VVC lending library in future years, once they get them cataloged. At least, that was my intent in accepting them.
