They have now instigated Date Night With Sam and Dean.
"When we're ready to watch an episode, we get all dressed up with make up and everything, put out a dish (a real plate, not paper) of bite size tea rolls, and sit back for a night out with our true loves. She has promised to keep her mitts off Sam, (my fave) if I promise not to go after Dean (her fave), and a good time is had by all!
I also made a promise to friends to watch only one episode a night. The show is so full of angst I was overwrought and my friends felt that I had to save myself from myself.
Ever grateful to you for guiding me through the fan fiction. There was so much I was getting bogged down with paper and I bought a Kindle!!!!! Best thing I ever did.."
We're still looking for fan fic and vid recs (master list here). While we need more specific types of recs, the easiest way is to grab your favorite stories/vids and slot them into the existing season posts rather than trying to work by season. We have the seasons arranged by dates on the master post so it should be easy.
We’re still collecting recs for the Season by Season "Read As You Go” Primer. While we have a good collection in place, we still have areas that could use additional recs.
Rec master page is here
Sam huffs. “You’re not--hitting it right.”
Hold the phone. Dean Winchester had been told a lot of things by lays in his life. Heard whispered and fevered declarations of shit that embarrassed him even in the moment. But one thing he had, never, ever, been accused of was lacking in bed.
And what the hell did Sam know anyway? This was only the third time they’d fucked. The first that Sam let Dean fuck him.
Not that Dean was keeping a count.
Or that Sam was being very cooperative about it.
“Stop being such a pushy little bitch and let me do it!” Dean argues, like they’re fighting over the remote or something.
Pre-Stanford slash stories in the Supernatural verse are a tricky read for me. Not only do we have issues of age of consent, but balancing the psychology of a 4 year age gap in the teenager years (a huge gap) can be difficult.
Which is why I enjoyed winterweatherd's Easy On The Clutch so much.
Dean wakes up to the sound of gunshots. He's still naked, and the side of the bed Sam was sleeping on is cool.
Dean pauses at the window on the way to the bathroom. Outside, Sam is shooting beer cans off the edge of the fence. He's a good shot: pow pow pow.
Dean gets this strange, unbidden image in his head of him and Sam, maybe five years from now, circling back-to-back and shooting out an army of zombies or werewolves or something. Pow pow pow, and they all go down one by one until Sam and Dean are the only ones left standing.
Dean finds his jeans and a wrinkled t-shirt and goes outside barefoot. He moves across the lawn quietly, waiting until Sam's finished his round before he steps up behind him and brushes his knuckles over the rise of Sam's shoulder blade.
The sun is bright on Sam's face when he turns around. He puts a hand against his forehead to shield his eyes. "Hey."
Dean squints back at him. He knows he probably looks ridiculous, one side of his face all squinched up against the light. "Hey. Gonna be late for school."
"Skipping," Sam says. He's probably waiting for Dean to give him shit for it, because Sam's never wanted to miss school in his life, but it's sunny and Dean is happy and he doesn't feel like pushing his luck. Sam holds out the gun. "You want to go a round?"
Dean shakes his head and steps back, shoving his hands into his pockets. Sam's gaze trips like a skipping stone over Dean's hips, the bare line where Dean is pulling his jeans away from his body. It makes Dean's chest hot, makes his toes curl against the dewy grass.
Be Awake by candle_beck
"Don't," Dean finally managed, sucking at air. "Fuckin'. Carry me."
Sam sat back on his heels, disbelief wiping his face for a second before his jaw tightened and his eyes flashed. He bent over Dean, baring his teeth and Dean flinched back but that was just a lizard brain thing, he was sure of it. He wasn't scared of Sam, for christ's sake.
"You passed out behind the wheel, you do not get a say."
Dean stared at him, appalled. "I would never."
Continued from here. This was a story I started last summer for reel_spn and never finished

It took four times.
When Dean's eyes opened the fourth time, Sam saw it happen. Saw realization sink in without any spoken words (between the breathing tube and Sam's unwillingness to disturb the shards of his brother's body with even the faintest whisper).
He looked up at Sam who sat beside him, then past him to where their father did not. Sam closed his hands into fists in the sheets and made himself watch: there would be no running away after this, no Stanford, and he was only a little surprised to realize how little that mattered to him right now. His dream had been a dotted line, beyond which lay an endless country. Dean's dream had been family, trinity, a triangle enclosed.
Dean broke in absolute silence, his powerful, deadly body lying still. There was nothing to mark the occurrence but a flutter of eyelashes.
To Sam that seemed more wrong than the empty air at his side. Because this was only the beginning, just a step. If Dean broke now, when he thought their father was lying dead in a freezer somewhere, what would he do when he learned that the truth was so, so much worse?
Sam made himself watch his brother's dream die and knew that he would gladly trade his own to open Dean's eyes a fifth time. His own grief burned in a hard line between his throat and gut, and he heard his father's voice saying Use it. Make your weaknesses into strengths.
It's been 24 hrs since I asked you all to categorize my vid God Says Nothing Back , so now that more votes have trickled in, I thought I’d share my thoughts:
The vid was made with the intent of being a character study of Sam. I wanted to look into Sam's relationships to the people around him, and I wanted to go far beyond the sexual/physical and focus more on the spiritual/emotional (keeping in mind that at least 2 of the people he is 'talking' to are dead, this should not be a surprise).
Short version: it was not intended to be a slash or even a het vid.
