morgandawn on some days I really hate people. our neighbors are nice enough if self-absorbed. Their 25 year old soon moved back in with this lovely old cat who stopped by our front door every morning to be petted and given treats. He also visited other people and was spoiled by the neighborhood.
But the coyotes started killing cats and we grew worried. We called the son. We spoke to his mother. We left 2 flyers and a handwritten note. Whenever we saw them in the street, we suggested he be kept indoors. "Oh he just wants to go out."
When we returned home after the floors were repaired, he no longer showed up. Yesterday Steve learned that days after we left, he had been killed by coyotes. I know they loved their cat - when there was a fire at the neighbor's house, and I called 911 and then the son, he kept asking if his cat was OK. But not enough to keep him out of harms way. Not enough to keep him from dying horribly and painfully.
