Before I used Twitter, I used tweet deck which has the similar column layout. Once you realize you can get rid of some of the extra columns, it becomes easier to read. The community fire hose is fun, and a great way to connect up with different people. The inability to quote retweet, means that you're replying directly to people and a more conversational manner
