Star Trek Voyager

It has been a long slog to get to season 4. I love Janeway but have found
so many of the episodes to be poorly written, directed and acted. Yet, I
love the characters: Kes and Neelix, B'elanna and Chakotay. The holographic
Doctor is unevenly written and shallow, and Tuvok seems to always be a
stand-in for "Insert Vulcan Plot Point Here' but I am warming to the two of
them. I am indifferent to Handsome Young Male Ingenues (TM) Harry and Tom
Paris.

If I had not see Jeri Ryan in other roles, I might have disliked 7 of 9
immediately. The obvious emphasis on her sexy body is off-putting, but
we're only 2 episodes in.

So I am still game to watch the next few years.

I liked Janeway, but to my surprise I found that I LOVED Seven of Nine. And although there are aspects of the doctor that I found icky, he wound up being my hologram boyfriend by the end. He reminds me pleasantly of Ray Vecchio: same ascerbic wit and abrasiveness, but there's warmth under there.

I rarely watched this show while it was on but, in a mad impulse moment, I recently bought the entire series on DVD. I may not get to it before I retire . . .

I will be most interested to hear how your opinion evolves as you watch it.
